THE MEDICAL & WELLNESS TOURISM CLUSTER

Established on 1 July 2013 by the Employers’ Organisation of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province “Lewiatan”, the cluster is based on a voluntary agreement of companies, research organisations, business environment institutions, public and non-public higher education institutions and other stakeholders acting together in line with the scope of the cluster’s objectives. The cluster operates on the basis of its own approved regulations and a collaboration agreement between the cluster leader and its members.

TASKS AND OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the cluster is to promote ‘medical and wellness tourism in Poland’ and create conditions enhancing the development of medical and wellness industry companies in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province and other regions.

The cluster undertakes to meet these objectives through the following activities:

  • Setting up advisory groups and procuring expert opinions,
  • Collaboration with research & development centres ,
  • Dissemination of knowledge on the importance of medical and wellness tourism among cluster members,
  • Continuing education of cluster members regarding, in particular, management, marketing and professional development of back office personnel,
  • Exchange of expertise and experience through the organisation of thematic conferences and training in the field of medicine, spa and wellness,
  • Joint participation in national and international trade fairs and exhibitions,
  • Facilitation of intellectual and business collaboration between all cluster members,
  • Joint application and procurement of certificates authorising medical and wellness tourism activities,
  • Seeking external project funding for cluster members (training and consultancy projects), and for operation of the cluster itself,
  • Endorsing cluster members, to acquire new business contacts and foreign customers,
  • Support for the business activities of cluster members, considering the nature of their business and specialisation, in order to enhance their competitiveness,
  • Applying to central and local government authorities, research and development units and institutions interested in the activities of the cluster with proposals, requests, enquiries and opinions on medical and wellness tourism issues and implementation of the concept of ‘medical and wellness tourism’ in the region,
  • Development of combined offers for cluster members (e.g. bundled hospital and spa services),
  • Compiling, updating and sharing databases containing the business information required by cluster members to conduct business activities,
  • Provision of economic analyses, market investigations, consultancy services, market trend information and marketing services for cluster members,
  • Liaising with other national and international organisations whose objectives and activities are shared with those of the cluster,
  • Maintenance of a medical and wellness tourism database,
  • Publishing of information material for the cluster.

By the Resolution No. XXXVI/511/2013 of 28 October 2013, the City Council of Inowrocław approved the accession of the City of Inowrocław to the Medical and Wellness Tourism Cluster.
