Economic Profile

Inowrocław is one of the largest cities of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie province and thus one of the most important economic centres in the region. The city is situated in Central Poland at the intersection of major trade and (road and rail) transportation routes. It lies on the shortest route from the Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) region to Masuria and close to A1 and A2 motorways.

The city’s strong position is reinforced by dynamic companies operating in the food, power, machine, transportation, mining, chemical, plastics and printing industries, as well as the growing trade and services sector. The regional leaders include a number of established major companies, well known on the Polish and international markets, such as ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana – one of the biggest construction companies in Poland, Inowrocławskie Kopalnie Soli “Solino" S.A. – a leading supplier of salt and brine, CIECH Soda Polska – the leader on the calcined soda ash market and a major company in the Central European chemical sector, CRONIMET – a leading supplier of stainless steel scrap, INTER METAL – a manufacturer of structural steel components, guiderails and traffic barriers used in Poland and abroad.  The confectionery business is represented, for example, by Zakład Produkcji Cukierniczej “Barbara Luijckx”, catering for confectioners, bakers and food processors who use chocolate ingredients, or by INPOL Gronikowscy Sp. J. – a manufacturer of sweets. Also the regional dairy cooperative, OSM “Cuiavia”, is a valued local company. On a national scale, on the other hand, Inowrocław is known as a printing and publishing hub with the industry represented by a number of well-known printers and publishing companies, such as Pozkal Sp. z o.o., Sp. k., Druk-Intro S.A., Polprint Sp. z o.o., Drukarnia Ekspres, TOTEM Sp. z o.o., and KUNKE Poligrafia Sp. z o.o. The concentration of numerous companies operating in the printing and publishing sector contributed to the foundation of the so-called “Printing Industry Infocluster”, a valuable initiative considering that sectors represented by business clusters may become essential for the local development in the future.

The health-resort function of the city is growing just as dynamically as its industry. Besides the biggest player in the sector, “Solanki" Uzdrowisko Inowrocław Sp. z o.o., a number of other sanatoriums operate in Inowrocław: Centrum Uzdrowiskowe ENERGETYK Sp. z o.o., Sanatorium Uzdrowiskowe "OAZA" Sp. z o.o., Sanatorium Uzdrowiskowe "Modrzew", and Sanatorium Uzdrowiskowe "Przy Tężni". Extensive investments in Solanki Park, rehabilitated grounds and a newly-converted area all supported the development of municipal infrastructure and the founding of new spa centres, hotels and boarding houses (pensions).

According to the database of the Central Business Register and Information Service (CEIDG), 4,719 business entities were active in Inowrocław in June 2015.
